DEADLINE!!!

Today's the DEADLINE!!

AAAAHHH We're panicking!!!

Production-Editing

Starting to edit all over again!

Production- Last day of editing.

Goodwin's Theory in our music video
We discussed in using a clip twice, but we were not sure if it would look good. However we came to the conclusion of using it as we remembered that in Goodwin's theory he says " the repetition of clips occur a lot in music videos". Goodwin has given us our answer!

Production-Starting Again on our DEADLINE day!

OH MY GOD!!

Today is our deadline for our music video, but we have decided to start again from scratch!! AAAAHH This is because we were told to change our track from an MP4 to a MOV. This messed up all the markings in our video, it was in such a mess we thought starting again was the best idea. We were panicking but have had a small 'group meeting' with our teacher Louisa and she has helped as decide on what shots we should use.

Here is a video of us panicking:

We overcame our worries and began everything again, Louisa gave us a piece of paper to write down what clips were going to use, this made it a lot easier as we now knew what clips were good and the ones which were not as good.

Here is a video of us panicking less :) and we now have footage in our timeline! YEEEEY!

By the end of toady we hope to have a clear structure of our music video and then we will add effects such as dissolves, black and white and if necessary a reverse effect. We are really DETERMINED to complete this today!! :)

Editing our Rough Cut

The Editing done today -18th of November

Today has bee our second day editing our music video, it has been quite complicated as there are many clips which like but dislike at the same time. Some of the clips have very good framing but the lighting is quite off.

Here we are trying to decide on two clips to use fr our chorus. We were not sure whether to use outside or inside footage for our chorus. However we did decided that we wanted a mid or close up of our artist.

Here we are exporting our video through quick time, it took quite long.

As it can be seen, not all the clips have been made black and white yet. Our teacher suggested that we just do the whole sequence and then make it all black and white. This will save us a lot of time and the rendering for black and white clips take extra long.

Production- Rough Cut

Our Rough Cut

This is the rough cut of our music video, we still need to do a lot more editing on it but our teacher has suggested us to upload the video as it is. We want the whole video to be in blabk and white but as it's seen not all of it is done yet. The rendering of the video takes extra long when it's in black and white which is why we decided to upload as we had it. The structure if our video is getting ther, but it still hasn't got the verse corous structure which is why we need to do a lot more work on it. By next week we hope to have alll the video in black and white and to also have a clear structure which is the most important thing in a music video.

Production- Black and White

Black and White

We want our video to be in black and white as we think it will look a lot more effective, through this we are also able to reflect the mood of our song
We were inspired by Adele- Someone like you as her video holds sad lyrics which is similar to our song choice. For this reason we believe that using the effect of black and white will truly bring out our storyline.

Production- Ideas for editing

Superimposition

The dictionary defenition of superimposition

After seeing Adeles- Someone like you video we really liked the shots of when her face fades into the setting. We decided that we wanted to do something similar so we asked our teacher and she told us that it was called a 'superimposotion effect'. She taught us how to get this effect and so we applied to some scenes.
Here are some images of the superimposition effect used in Adeles video and in our video:

Adeles superimposition
Here we see a close up of Adeles eyes fading out into the river bank, these fades are usually quite slow which is why it works very well in her video and so we think it would work perfectly with our videao as its also quite a slow tempo song.

Our superimposition
Here is a screen shot of the superimpositon effect used in our video. We think it works very well with the slow pace of the song and it almost reflects the sad/depressed mood of our actress  which is effective as it begins to show the storyline.

Production-Day 2 Of Filming

Today we filmed in Victoria, we managed to get permission and we were very happy with the variety of shots we took. We hope to edit these clips in our next lesson.

Production-Day 1 of Filming

We filmed in our actresses bedroom, the room was quite small but we managed to work with it. It was the room we had been looking for initially; very plain with white furniture if possible. We were happy with all the filming we done. For our next filming day we want to use a variety of angles like low and high angles and possibly cut aways.

Permission/Request Call

Request Call

Emily e-mailed the customer services department to ask for permission in order to film by the river bank near the Edexcel centre. They were not replying so our teacher Louisa called them to ask them herself. About 2 hours later they called back saying it was fine as long as we didn't go in the river.

Perfecting our lip synching

Emily Perfecting her lip synching.

Here we see Emily perfecting her lip synching, we realised that it was better she sang the song out loud this way it seemed more realistic. Through this small practice we knew that the performance on the day had to improve, she had to really play the role of the artist and mean every single she's singing. This was very helpful for Emily.

Permission for the use of Camden Lock River

Permission for the use of Camden Lock River

I was quite surprised to of got a reply back within about forty minutes. I was honestly expecting to get a reply within a couple of days. Unfortunately the website that I emailed wasn't exactly in control of the permission rights. It was then said that I had to get in contact with Camden Council which apparently deals with permission rights. I am not too sure if I am going to contact Camden Council as it might be a long process!
