Promotion of the artist and the song. Being the artist, they have their own views and portrayals of the song, and the digipak - as well as the music video- is a good way to put that across.
With songs now being downloaded on itunes, digipaks and CD's have become more of a collectors item. A digipak is a nice way to package the CD in a promotional way.
Visual links to the music video. Colour theme, artists outfit, makeup, location of the music video etc.
Promotion for the music industry. The record label is always on either the cover or back cover of the digipak.
