Analysis of a Music Video

 

I personally think that the best music video of all times has to be Kanye West Ft Rihanna - All of the lights. I'd say that this music video is one of the best of all times because the lighting, contrast, angles and shots that were in this video was literally breath-taking.

 




I really do like this video because its interesting, it isn't like a boring music video with a story to it. I mean, this music video does have a story to it but it seems like its been exaggerated which is perfectly fine. I am absolutely in love with the contrast of this music video as the black and white at the beginning of the video seems to contradict itself in the intro. 

 
As soon as the introduction of the song comes in we see a flash of different lights and its quite shocking at first because you don't actually expect it. As viewers I think this is simply an amazing video because in a way it excites us with the different lights and so on. 

I think that the variety of different shots is also very exciting as the clip of each shot is in beat with the song so there isn't a shot that lingers for too long. The song at first does not make much sense because there is a little girl walking around the area alone, but as soon as the introduction comes in, it seems to make a lot of sense. The lyrics of the song links in with the music video and this makes the music video as a whole quite self explanatory.  

I really see this video as 'glamorous' as Rihanna looks like shes living the 'high life' I also think that the eye connection that she and Kanye as giving to the video hads an element of them being your friend. Without eye connect with the camera how possibly could they be relating to their fans? So I also think that it is very important to hold eye contact with the camera because that is the only way you'll be able to get through to fans. 

I think that with the budget they had, they could afford special lighting and such, something that we cannot afford. But with such a high quality video it seems that a lot of time, money and preparation has gone into this which I can definitely see. Without having a budget all we can rely on is our talent which will be to record and direct a music video with good edits to it as well.
